Vietnam business visa and work permit

For meetings, trade fairs or short business trips, the Vietnam e-visa with the business purpose is enough: up to 90 days, US$25 (single entry) or US$50 (multiple entry) in government fees. Working in Vietnam is different: the official portal states that foreigners entering to work must hold a work permit or a certificate confirming they are exempt. We handle the e-visa, not the work permit.

Business trip or employment?

This list comes from the note on the official e-visa portal. Religious, press, medical and teaching activities also need permission from the competent authorities.

What the business e-visa form asks

Beyond the usual identity, passport and trip questions, the form asks for your occupation and employer (name, address, phone, your position) and, if any, the organisation or person you will contact in Vietnam. Answer precisely and consistently: the portal denies applications containing dishonest information.

Who handles the work permit?

The employer in Vietnam requests the work permit from the provincial authorities where you will work; since 7 August 2025 the rules are set by Decree 219/2025/ND-CP, and a permit lasts up to 2 years. Ask your employer for the current list of documents before you travel. We file e-visas for business trips; we do not handle work permits.
